The Shelf is a feature added in SiteTagger v1.6. It helps to organize links to sites that you may or may not want to add to SiteTagger’s database. It serves as a temporary storage area for links you are interested in but don’t want to bookmark yet.
To use the Shelf, turn on the “Import webloc files on Desktop to Shelf” preferences option under General preferences. Switch to your favorite web browser and drag links to the Desktop. Most browser also allow you to drag from the location bar. When you switch back to SiteTagger, it will scrape the Desktop for every file ending in “.webloc” and add them to the Shelf.
The Shelf can be made visible by clicking on the “Show Shelf…” menu item under the Windows menu. The Shelf automatically hides when SiteTagger is in the background.
The Shelf displays the name of each link added and offers the options to delete the link, add it to SiteTagger’s database, or open the link in your selected web browser. The button for opening in your web browser looks like Safari’s icon but the link will open in whichever browser is the system default.
