Multiple Locations

MacDialer can keep track of where your computer is by your network settings. This feature is very helpful for those using laptops in different environments. If, say, at work you had a Phone Book that contained mostly work contacts and had to dial "9" before reaching an outside line, but you had different contacts at home and had to use a phone card to dial long distance numbers, MacDialer can make the switch automatically.

The multiple locations feature is tied to your network locations in the Network preferences pane. If you turn this feature on, MacDialer makes a copy of your current preferences and phone book and ties it to the current network setting. Whenever you switch network locations, MacDialer will check to see if any settings are already set to that network location. If there are, MacDialer changes accordingly. If not, MacDialer copies the current preferences settings and uses this copy. By working with multiple phone books and preferences files, you can have custome settings for work and home and everywhere else you may need to go.

If you turn the multiple locations feature off at any time, MacDialer keeps your current phone book and preferences as global preferences and erases all other configurations.
