It just occurred to me that the price for the new iPhone 3G is really cheap, but it’s subsidized. Okay, fine, I got my last phone like that. However, you’ll pay a penalty if you don’t sign up for the AT&T plan in under 30 days. Now, what kind of penalty is that? I’d assume it’s a one-time penalty. Perhaps of around $200. I assume that you’d get to keep your iPhone. So, for people who want their iPhone 3G without the contract, it’s not 50% of the price of the original iPhone (after price drop), it’s half up front and half next month. Just a thought for those who want the iPhone 3G without AT&T (or, like me, don’t want to sign in to another AT&T contract).
