Downloading C4[1] videos without registration

Jonathan ‘Wolf’ Rentzsch has started making the C4[1] videos available via Viddler. I’m very happy that they’re available but I’m not so keen on having to sign up with Viddler in order to download them (as Rentzsch recommends). Luckily, there’s another way if you’re willing to work for it. Here’s a step-by-step way to get those videos onto your hard drive.

  1. Go to the video that you want. Since only the first video has been posted by the time of this writing, we’ll go there.

  2. Click on the Window menu in the menu bar and select “Activity”.

  3. Find the biggest file in the activity viewer that corresponds to the tab/window that the Viddler page is open in. Generally, the flash video file is the biggest (usually several megabytes). Double-click that file in order to download it.

  4. Use an application such as iSquint to convert the downloaded .flv file into a Quicktime file.
