I played poker tonight with the gang plus some new people. Some days the poker gods are with you. Today, they weren’t with me. I took several bad beats. I flopped made hands so many times only to have them cracked on the river by the heavy underdog. It’s easy to lose a lot of money that way. I managed to pick up what I could and made 4 good hours of play before being busted on a King-Queen suited. That was the same hand I started with and I lost that one, too. I lost them both to the same guy. He was holding the same cards. I was holding the same cards (suite and all). He beat me the exact same way. Now that I think about it, save for one card on the flop, everything was exactly the same as the very first hand. Each time I was waiting for a flush, straight, or pair. Any of those would’ve won and I had one-card draws to the flush and the straight on the flop each time.
I had two straights and a full house cracked in a row, costing me most of my chip stack. Any sizable hand just about got me beat. I kept in the game on pairs and bluffs. Tonight wasn’t my night.
